Deposit Support Specialist

Sacramento Credit Union is seeking candidates who have credit union or banking experience and enjoy doing a variety of detail-oriented tasks for our Deposit Support Specialist I position. Our Deposit Support team handles behind-the-scenes tasks for our Sacramento-area branches. Under general supervision the Deposit Support Specialist I performs specialized assignments such as processing reports, preparing correspondence and reconciling data within specified timeframes. Additionally, this position is responsible for researching, resolving and responding to members, staff and external sources with information related to fraud and dispute claims. This role requires proficiency in the described primary duties and supporting functions related to wire fraud, online banking transactions, and payroll deductions from member accounts. This is a full-time position with a fixed schedule so it’s perfect for individuals wanting a work/life balance. The work schedule is Monday-Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Process ACH transactions including file uploads via FedLine Advantage, posting, exceptions, returns, stop payments, and unauthorized ACH activity.
- Maintain compliance with ACH regulations, staying current on rule changes and ensuring accurate processing.
- Process daily ATM adjustments and exceptions using Star Station, Jack Henry, and Data Navigator; post to general ledger and member accounts.
- Balance on-site, off-site, and network ATM machines, research outages, resolve discrepancies, and maintain required documentation.
- Serve as a point of contact for ATM-related inquiries, assisting members and employees with transaction issues and adjustments.
- Process share draft files and returns, including exception review, draft posting, and returned check handling through the Federal Reserve.
- Perform check-related functions such as stop payments, returned check processing, Check 21 items, and share draft adjustments.
- Process outgoing domestic wire transfers accurately and in compliance with established procedures.
- Process levies and legal orders on member accounts in accordance with regulations and internal policies.
- Post daily transactions and balance general ledger accounts, completing daily spreadsheets and monthly reconciliations.
- Process payroll deductions and distributions, including transmissions, exception resolution, employer payments, and member inquiries.
- Support Online Bill Pay operations, including posting adjustments, balancing GL accounts, responding to inquiries, and assisting with staff training.
- Review and process online account openings through MeridianLink, escalating exceptions as needed.
- Adhere to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies, ensuring compliance in all deposit operations.
- Maintain effective communication and working relationships with members, coworkers, and third-party vendors while meeting attendance and workflow expectations.
- Process office supplies, forms and brochures for all branches and departments.
- Performs all other duties assigned, including daily workflows.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. and related work experience, preferably in a financial institution.
- General knowledge of credit union practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of ACH and Share Draft rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of Regulation E and EFT compliance.
- Knowledge of payroll, rules, and regulations, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of general clerical practices, methods and procedures.
- Ability to perform accurate math calculations and maintain records.
- Ability to communicate effectively; maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to operate Ten Key at a speed required for successful job performance.
- Knowledge of personal computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated Member Service and telephone skills
